FLATED® products provide convenience and durability for any adventure, but to keep them in top condition, regular maintenance is necessary. Here are some simple tips to help you keep your FLATED® products looking and performing great
Clean FLATED® products with the FLATED inflatable cleaner
Keep your products in pristine condition by cleaning them just as you would your vehicle. Road grime, salt, and dirt can degrade the Drop Stitch material and fabric over time. FLATED®’s Inflatable Cleaner helps maintain both the look and function of your gear.
Generously apply FLATED® Inflatable Cleaner to the Drop Stitch material.
Gently scrub using a soft brush or cloth to remove dirt.
Rinse with water or wipe down with a clean, damp microfiber cloth.
Ensure the cleaned surface is completely dry before storage.
For added protection, follow up with FLATED® Inflatable UV Guard, which conditions and enhances the surface, helping protect it from the sun and weather.
Use UV spray to protect Flated® Drop-Stitch material
Exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading and material degradation. FLATED®’s Inflatable UV Guard provides protection for the Drop Stitch material, keeping it flexible and preventing sun damage. While your FLATED® product already has UV protection, applying more regularly will keep it fresh and extend its lifespan.
Keep the clear vinyl windows crystal clear and prevent cracking
Clear vinyl windows provide visibility and need care to prevent cracks and cloudiness. For the vinyl windows, follow these steps to keep them clear and protect their integrity.
Lubricate the zippers for smooth functionality
Zippers can become stiff over time, especially in dusty or cold environments. Lubricate your zippers with a cleaner and lubricant to ensure they glide smoothly. Be sure not to force the zippers, as this can damage both the zipper and the material.
Use a zipper cleaner and lubricant to maintain smooth functionality.
Clean both sides of the zipper to remove any debris.
If the zipper is stuck, don’t force it; apply lubricant and try again.
Strap maintenance
The straps that secure your FLATED® products should be regularly cleaned to maintain their strength. Dirt and debris can compromise their effectiveness over time.
Clean Velcro for secure fit
Velcro strips help ensure your FLATED® products stay secure. Over time, they can collect lint and debris, weakening their grip. Regular cleaning will maintain their functionality.
Set the correct PSI for optimal performance
To maintain your FLATED® products’ durability and performance, it’s important to keep the right PSI (pounds per square inch). The ideal range for most FLATED® products is between 5-8 PSI, but this may vary based on climate conditions.
Set the PSI between 5-6, as the heat will cause the air to expand.
Aim for a PSI of 7-8 to compensate for the contraction of air in the cooler temperatures.
Avoid car washes
Although convenient, car washes can damage your FLATED® products, particularly the zippers and delicate materials. We recommend cleaning by hand to avoid any potential issues. If you need to clean your product at a car wash, opt for the spray stations, which are gentler than mechanical car wash brushes.
Proper storage
When not in use, store your FLATED® products properly to avoid damage. Follow the PVC Surface instructions for conditioning before folding them away. Regular use of the Inflatable UV Guard will help preserve the material, keeping it soft and flexible for future use.
Make sure to fold or roll your product neatly to prevent creases or unnecessary stress on the material.
Avoid storing your FLATED® products in damp or humid conditions, as this can lead to mildew or mould growth.
